"Upon my retirement, there is only one candidate that can successfully fulfill the job of Douglas County Sheriff and that person is Captain Darren Weekly. Darren has more operational law enforcement experience in all divisions of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office than his three opponents. Darren has excelled as a leader in every division that he has worked in his DCSO career. I have personally worked with Darren on hundreds of complex criminal cases and his work ethic and integrity are impeccable. Darren is the ONLY candidate that can successfully operate the jail division. Darren is the ONLY candidate that can successfully manage DCSO’s large staffing needs. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has one of the best law enforcement reputations in the state and is nationally recognized for its outstanding public safety performance. The citizens of Douglas County consistently rank DCSO as the best provider of public services in the county with an overall performance rate exceeding 95%. This was all achieved through his leadership. Captain Darren Weekly is the most energetic, innovative, street-smart, and overall superior candidate to be your next Sheriff. "Safe neighborhoods are extremely important to the families of Castle Pines. Our residents rely on the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department to be their primary law enforcement agency — To be a hard blue line protecting them from the rising crime, drug use and vehicle thefts taking place in Denver. I am confident that Darren Weekly is the right leader to meet the new challenges of a law enforcement agency responsible for the safety of a county as diverse as DougCo with a growing population which has its own unique demands. "I’ve worked as a Reserve Deputy at Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 29 years. In that time, I’ve work with and for Darren Weekly. My son, after spending time in Iraq, serving his country, went to work for a police department in northern Colorado. While on duty as a K-9 officer, he became involved in a fatal shooting. I was out of town on business at the time. My wife called me very early the next morning to tell me what happened. Eventually I spoke with my son, he was hanging in there. Out of the clear blue, later that day Darren who was the Captain of Patrol at the time called me. After we talked for a minute, to make sure I was okay, he offered all the resources of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to support my son, my family and me. Let me repeat, I’m only a Reserve and my son works for another agency and yet Darren went out of his way to take care of those who take care of all of you. With that, I want to endorse Darren Weekly to be Sheriff of Douglas County because he is going to protect all of you to the best of his ability!!"
Mike Nicola

“I believe with all my heart that Darren Weekly is the best choice for Douglas County Sheriff. I worked with him when I was a Deputy with Douglas County and found him to be down to earth and not someone who says things just to please others. If Darren says he’s going to do something, you can take it to the bank. I urge all my Facebook friends, all my Aurora PD colleagues, and every Douglas County employee who live within Douglas County to vote for Darren. And let your friends and families know to vote for him as well."

"Personal story of my own interaction with Darren... the early morning of my good friend's funeral many years ago, I came upon a lost dog wandering in the road as I was walking my own... I managed to leash him and coax him to my home. I then called the Buddy Center and Douglas County Animal Control, getting no answer from the former and a response from the latter that someone would be there in about 20 minutes... well, after no one coming after an hour later I HAD to get going to the service and by chance remembered that there happened to be a dog walk event at the Glendale Dog Park on Havana that day. So, I drove the dog over there, thinking I could at least leave him inside the fenced area until after the funeral when I could figure out what to do with him. Parked off to the side of the entrance was Officer Weekly... desperate by now, I pulled over to explain what the situation was, and and without hesitation he said "Give him to me, I'll make sure he's taken care of", and damned if he didn't put the dog in his patrol car and sent me quickly on my way. THAT seemingly minor gesture, where he could have offered token suggestions as opposed to actively helping me out of a jam, told me back then everything I needed to know about the kind of man Darren Weekly is, and that IMHO, we'd be lucky to have such a man as our sheriff today."
Jeff Norman
Douglas County Citizen
"Leaders should never underestimate the importance of being willing and able to do any job under their command. There is no faster way of losing the support of the troops then demonstrating that "this task is below me" while simultaneously criticizing them for their performance of said task. They need to know that you understand all the nuances of their situations and will balance that with the needs of the community. I am proud of Darren's career and know that he will do exactly what's needed to support his employees while ensuring the community benefits from their efforts."
Eric Schmitt
Former Commander, Greenwood Village Police Department 11/19/2021
"Darren Weekly is highly respected by law enforcement officials throughout the State of Colorado.  During his career, Darren has exhibited the highest level of ethics, integrity, and professionalism. He has the knowledge and experience in critical roles to best lead the Sheriff’s Office into the future. I’m proud to endorse Darren Weekly to be the next Sheriff of Douglas County."
John W. Stein

"So proud of you, Darren. In the infamous words of John F. Kennedy: "We choose to do these things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win." You will be our next Sheriff, and you will make a positive difference in so many people's lives!"
Rhonda Basey

"I have 40 years of experience in Sheriff's Offices. Including 20 years as the Undersheriff of Douglas County under the Great leadership of Sheriff Steve Zotos. Also 5 years as Executive Director of the County Sheriff's of Colorado. I think I know what the qualities of a great leader and excellence it takes to be Sheriff. I have been very concerned about the leadership and decision making abilities of the candidates for Douglas County Sheriff in 2022. I am very pleased to see a person of Darren Weekly's experience, abilities and education step forward to accept the challenge of running for Sheriff in 2022. He will be a great Sheriff. He is knowledgeable and one of the nicest people with which to deal. He has genuine concerns about the Law Enforcement profession and true concern for the community."
Don Christensen
Former Undersheriff, Douglas County Sheriff's Office
